A wild gift idea for a Valentine

Share

If you are still searching for the perfect gift for your Valentine, the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Assn. has a suggestion. Make a donation to its ADOPT an Animal program, which supports the zoo’s participation in wildlife conservation programs for endangered species at the zoo and around the world. ADOPT is an acronym for Animals Depend on People, Too.

A donation of $35 brings a sweetheart a photo of the animal you choose, an official certificate designating them guardian of the animal’s species at the zoo for one year and a romantic message from the sender.

Burbank native Mary Perassolo is a GLAZA member and has donated to the program for herself and her brother for five years.

“I feel I am doing something to help an endangered species and support participation in a wildlife conservation program,” she said.

This year she adopted a Meerkat, which is a member of the mongoose family.

“I have seen them at the zoo. They are very adorable,” she said.
