Burbank area events: Creative arts center to host instructors exhibit gallery

The “Instructors Exhibit” will be on display through to Jan. 30 at the Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center, 1100 W. Clark Ave., Burbank.

The exhibit showcases artwork by instructors at the center who teach pottery, painting, jewelry-making and weaving.

Law service to give a presentation about elder abuse

Bet Tzedek Legal Services will give a presentation about protecting against elder abuse at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the Joslyn adult Center, 1301 W. Olive, Burbank.

This presentation costs $2 without a Burbank senior activity card.

Author and assistant director to speak at library

Author Sam Wasson will speak with Howard “Hawk” Koch Jr., the first assistant director for the movie “Chinatown,” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Buena Vista Branch Library, 300 N. Buena Vista St., Burbank.

The event will also have a question-and-answer segment, and the movie “Chinatown” will be screened.

Guest to talk about hybridizing African violets

The Burbank African Violet Society will host its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Little White Chapel, 1711 N. Avon St., Burbank.

Guest speaker Stephen Covollo, judge and club member, will give a presentation on “Learning All About Hybridizing Your African Violets.” A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. Meetings are open to everyone.
