Burbank apartment manager uses BB gun to detain alleged mail thief
A Canyon Country woman accused of mail theft was reportedly detained by a man using a BB gun on Friday after she was allegedly caught stealing from a Burbank apartment complex.
Officers with the Burbank Police Department responded to the 600 block of Whitnall Highway at around 4:55 a.m. after receiving word that a man was holding a woman at gunpoint over an alleged mail theft.
When officers arrived at the complex, both the man and woman were detained.
Police spokesman Sgt. Derek Green said in a statement the man was the complex’s manager who reportedly caught the woman stealing items from residents’ mailboxes.
The man had used a BB gun to detain the woman, Green said.
The woman was taken into custody and identified as 35-year-old Megan Franks.
She was charged by the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office with one count of first-degree burglary and has since been released from police custody.
