Authorities respond to early morning attic fire, rescue trapped dog

Burbank firefighters rescued a dog early Tuesday morning after a home caught fire in the 1600 block of Oak Street.

Battalion Chief John Owings, a spokesman for the fire department, said the blaze was first reported around 1:15 a.m., and it was located in the home’s attic.

Firefighters were able to contain the flames to the home’s attic, and it was extinguished by 2:22 a.m., according to Owings.

He said no injuries were reported, and the rescued dog was unharmed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
