Anne and Harvey Borup
Anne and Harvey Borup, residents of Burbank since 1947, recently
celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends at
their daughter and son-in-law’s home in Burbank. Fifty guests attended
the affair.
Anne is 92 and Harvey is 93. They were married in Rapid City, S.D. in
1929. They have two children, Beverly Jensen of Burbank and Ron Borup of
La Crescenta; four grandchildren, Dan Jensen and Don Jensen of Burbank,
Dave Jensen of Santa Clarita and Doreen Jensen of Burbank; and
great-grandchildren Courtney and Lindsay Jensen of Burbank.
Anne was a pottery decorator of Franciscan ware at Gladding McBean in
Glendale, which later became Interpace. Harvey was a civil engineer for
the Army and later became a Realtor in Burbank.
In their early days, they had some fascinating experiences. Anne
taught school on the prairies of South Dakota in a one-room schoolhouse
to grades one through eight. She also helped cook for 10 to 12 laborers
in a cook house on construction projects for the highways of the state.
Harvey’s first auto was a Model A Ford and he also owned a Model T with
his twin brother, Harley, to which they added a racing body onto the
chassis.
Anne and Harvey also lived during the time of the Depression and
Prohibition. In those days, riding a horse for 10 miles to go to a dance
was a fun time.
Erikson -- Macey
Karlyna Erikson and Robert Macey of Glendale were married at the
Glendale Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Marvin Warman officiated.
The bride and groom greeted each guest as they exited the pews
following the ceremony.
Erin Eftekhar was the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Rhonda
Brillon, Emily Macey, Helen Melville and Elisa Szollosy. The junior
bridesmaids was Ashley Erikson.
The best man was Mike Houghtaling. The ushers were Keven Strehle, John
Ramseyer, Bill Tuman and Brian Oosdyke. The ring bearer was Chris
Erikson.
A reception followed at the Red Lion Hotel. The honeymoon was kept a
secret from the bride until the last minute. The couple will reside in
Glendale.
The bride is the daughter of Danielle Erikson-Luna of Glendale, Ariz.
and Kurt Erikson of Glendale.
She graduated from Cal State Northridge with a bachelor’s degree in
English. She is employed at M.P.I. Talent Agency.
The groom is the son of Peggy and Craig Oosdyke of Fountain Valley.
He graduated from University of Long Beach with a bachelors degree in
radio/television/film. He is employed by KCBS-TV and affiliated with the
National Press Photographers Assn.
