MARIA CARPA

Maria Carpa, 89, died Feb. 5, 2001, in Burbank.

Ms. Carpa was born in Italy. She lived in Burbank for 25 years. She

was a mother and housewife.

She is survived by eight children, 19 grandchildren and 24

great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home.

RAYMOND D. “RAY” BARKER

Raymond D. “Ray” Barker, 64, died Feb. 3, 2001, in his Sun Valley

home.

Mr. Barker was born in Waycross, Ga. He founded Saturn Fasteners Inc.

in Burbank in 1989. He also was a member of the Glendale Moose Club.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; sons and daughters-in-law Allan

and Tammy, Raymond and Kathy and Michael and Pam; daughter, Patricia;

grandchildren Kevin Holland, Wesley Walker and Matthew, Andrew, Jamie,

Sandra, Kendyl and Lacie Barker; sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth And

Elton Henson; sister, Eloise Barker Murray; brother, C.W. Barker;

sisters-in-law Katie, Betty R. and Betty J. Barker; and numerous nieces

and nephews.

The viewing was Wednesday. The graveside service was Thursday at

Valhalla Memorial Park, North Hollywood.

BLAS H. HERNANDEZ

Blas H. Hernandez, 81, died Feb. 4, 2001, in a Burbank hospital.

Mr. Hernandez was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church and was

presented a medal from Pope John Paul II last year for his years of

devoted service to the Catholic Church. He was also a member of the first

volunteer unit in World War II.

He is survived by his sister, Minga Armanderiaz.

Service was Wednesday, and the funeral Mass was Thursday. Internment

was at San Fernando Mission Cemetery. Eckerman-Heisman Funeral Service

was in charge of arrangements.

BEVERLY JACOBS JOHNSON

Beverly Jacobs Johnson, 65, died Feb. 5, 2001, in her Burbank home.

Ms. Johnson was born in Glendale. She lived in Burbank for 60 years.

She worked as a waitress at Bob’s Big Boy for 25 years and as a crossing

guard for 11 years. She loved to make improvements on the home she owned

for more than 40 years.

She is survived by her husband, Ray; daughters Lorna Gutshall and

Mindy Swann; son, Mike Swann; stepchildren Christine and Nels Johnson;

and 12 grandchildren.

Services are at 8 a.m. today at Old North Church, Forest Lawn,

Hollywood Hills.
