BURBANK -- Community liaison officers in the Burbank Police Department

are considering holding events in the city for National Night Out Against

Crime next year.

The department does not celebrate the national event, which is

designed to promote interaction between police and communities.

In surrounding communities, such as Glendale and Tujunga, the event is

characterized by block parties and entertainment with police schmoozing

with local residents.

Burbank Police officers would like to see something similar.

“I’d like to have one near San Fernando Road -- some kind of social

event,” said Burbank Police Officer Darin Ryburn. “It will be one of our

goals for next year.”
