Two 17-year-old girls suffered minor injuries after two men threw

beer cans at them, police said.

The incident was prompted during an apparent gang fight Saturday

in the 2300 block of North Niagara Street, Police Lt. Chris Welker

said.

A sedan approached the girls and they told police a man inside

told them he was looking for a particular gang.

The car drove away and later returned. Two men got out, one

holding a baseball bat. He swung it but did not hit anyone, police

said.

They threw beer cans at the girls and drove away. They drove by

again and one of the girls threw rocks at the back window of the car,

police said.

Based on descriptions of the car and the people inside, two

19-year-old Burbank men were arrested on suspicion of assault with a

deadly weapon.

Gunshots were allegedly heard in the area at the time of the

incident, but no evidence of a shooting was found, police said.
