Hot aluminum starts small fire

A fire started by melted aluminum that leaked onto an oil-soaked
pallet sent black smoke billowing into the air above a manufacturing
company.
The small fire occurred about 2:15 p.m. Thursday at Royal
Diecasting Corp. at 1816 N. Keystone St.
Several employees were evacuated form the single-story structure
and no one was hurt. The blaze was quickly extinguished, Burbank Fire
Marshal Dave Starr said.
Hot melted aluminum in a ceramic pot leaked onto the pallet and
sent smoke billowing, Starr said, adding the incident looked worse
than it was really was. Damage to the building was minor, officials
said.
