‘Idol’s’ mother sings praises of school music programs
I would like to thank the Leader for featuring my son, J.D. Adams, in
the article titled “Burbank Idol.”
The Burbank Unified School District’s vocal music programs need to
be commended for their superior quality.
We have several extremely gifted and talented music teachers in
our district who provide excellent music education to our children. I
hope our superintendent and the Burbank school board will continue to
provide our children with quality music teachers so that the vocal
music programs continue to thrive.
My children have had the fortunate experience of having Pam
Pouliot, Michelle Jensen, Lydia Shin and Brett Carroll. Thanks also
to Burbank High School principal Leslie DeRoos for listening to
parents and their concerns last year and then hiring a new and
extremely qualified vocal music teacher.
These programs help to build confidence and self-esteem in kids,
as well as teach them to work in groups and to strive to be their
personal best. My son’s participation in Burbank’s first-rate vocal
music programs gave him the self-assurance and skills to be a
contender on “American Idol.”
Thank you to the Burbank Unified School District and Michelle
Jensen.
