Kiwanis gala honors Rev. Larry Stamper
BURBANK -- Tickets are on sale for the Burbank Noon Kiwanis Club’s
sixth annual fund- raising gala to honor the Rev. Larry Stamper of
the Burbank First United Methodist Church.
The event will be May 31 at the Lakeside Golf Club. Stamper, a
former Burbank mayor, is being recognized for his years of service to
the community.
Money raised from silent and live auctions as well as a reverse
cash giveaway, will be used for community service programs of the
Noon Kiwanis Club. Programs include support of the Boy Scouts and
Girl Scouts, aid to needy Burbank families, assisting the fine arts
departments of Burbank schools and sponsoring youth athletic teams.
Tickets are $60 for dinner and $100 for the reverse drawing.
Patron tickets, which are $300, include two dinners and two chances
to win the cash giveaway.

Fashion show highlights urban L.A.
HILLSIDE DISTRICT -- Woodbury University will present its 2003
fashion show, “Metropolo: a mid-century night’s dream,” May 4 at the
Millennium Biltmore Hotel.The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a
cocktail and dinner reception at the hotel at 506 S. Grand Ave., Los
Angeles.
Coty award-winning designer Gustave Tassell, who contributed to
Jacqueline Kennedy’s wardrobe when she was first lady, will receive
the Woodbury Design Award.
The university will also honor the collaboration of Hutton
Wilkinson and the late Tony Duquette with the Style Award in interior
design, jewelry, sculpture and painting.
The work of Woodbury’s fashion design students will be showcased
against an evolving background of urban landscape.
Amber Benson, who plays Tara in the TV series, “Buffy the Vampire
Slayer,” will emcee the show.
Admission is $50, and a VIP package that includes the show,
