Council to fill vacancies on various committees
The City Council on Tuesday is expected to choose from more than 100
candidates to fill 31 vacancies on a dozen boards, commissions and
committees.
Those panels with vacancies as of June 1 include: the Civil Pride
Committee; Youth Endowment Services Fund Advisory Committee; Civil
Service Board; Board of Library Trustees; Board of Building and Fire
Code Appeals; Park, Recreation and Community Services Board; Police
Commission; Burbank Water and Power Board; Planning Board;
Landlord-Tenant Commission; and Transportation Commission.
The council will choose from 10 candidates to fill three vacancies
on the Planning Board. Board Chairwoman Carolyn Berlin abruptly
resigned last week with two years remaining on her four-year term.
No board, commission or committee member receives pay, and no
member can serve on more than one panel at the same time. Several
candidates, though, have applied for more than one board, and will
receive consideration based on their order of preference.
