Daniel Vargas and Alex Lenarsky were the only two Burbank students
selected to participate in the 2003 California All-State Honor Choir.
Daniel and Alex are from John Burroughs High School where they sing
in the Chamber Choir/Powerhouse and Vocal Ensemble choirs under the
direction of Mary Rago.
More than 1,800 high school students in the state auditioned and
only 300 choral singers were selected based on musical and vocal
skills. They learned a challenging repertoire for a recent
performance that took place at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Daniel
and Alex were also selected to participate in the Southern California
Honor Choir earlier this year.
Burroughs Chamber Choir/Powerhouse placed first at all five local
show choir competitions this year, sweeping all top awards, including
musicianship and showmanship categories.
