New president named for art association
Members of the Verdugo Hills Art Assn. welcomed their new president
Carole Buss and thanked retiring president Bill Bates at the last
meeting of the year at Citibank in Montrose.
A Glendale resident, Buss is a watercolor and collage artist who
specializes in floral works and teaches classes at Descanso Gardens.
She is also a regular exhibitor at the Boddy House Gallery at
Descanso.
Devorah Friedman received the artist of the year for her
watercolor titled “Plein-air.” The painting is of another artist
painting during a field trip made by the plein-air group, a subgroup
of the association.
Also during the meeting, the art group presented its annual
scholarship award to Lili Milikian, who is studying art at Clark
Magnet High School.
After a summer break, the art association will have its first
meeting of the year at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 5 at Citibank, 2350 Honolulu
Ave. in Montrose.
