INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION PROJECT

WHAT HAPPENED

The council voted unanimously to enter into a professional

services agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates, and Trans-

portation & Energy Solutions Inc. for design and other services

related to the San Fernando Intelligent Transportation Systems

project.

WHAT IT MEANS

The project, which the city of Glendale is also participating in,

is intended to improve traffic capacity and efficiency on surface

streets along the Golden State (5) Freeway corridor, including

traffic signal coordination.

GUARANTEED MAXIMUM PRICE PROJECTS

WHAT HAPPENED

The council unanimously approved a resolution to use a fixed fee,

guaranteed maximum price delivery method for construction management

on Robert R. Ovrom Park and the Debell Clubhouse Replacement project.

WHAT IT MEANS

As opposed to the design-bid-build method, under the guaranteed

maximum price method the construction manager guarantees the project

will be completed within a certain cost and by a certain time.

SUBCOMMITTEE ON LAND USE

WHAT HAPPENED

The council appointed Councilwoman Marsha Ramos and Councilman

Todd Campbell to a new subcommittee on land use.

WHAT IT MEANS

The subcommittee will work with Community Development Department

planning staff in the early stages of any land use proposals and act

as a liaison to the full council.
