The following incidents were taken from police reports:
* 500 block of South Sunset Canyon Drive: A 33-year-old
Bakersfield man was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of
driving while intoxicated after leading police on a brief chase. The
man did not pull over when officers turned on their lights and siren,
and police said he drove through several stop signs at speeds
reaching 80 mph before crashing into a building near the corner of
Grandview Avenue and Kenneth Road in Glendale. He then got out of his
car and sat down on a nearby bench, where police arrested him.
SOUTH SAN FERNANDO DISTRICT
* 25 E. Alameda Ave.: A 35-year-old Burbank man was arrested
Saturday on suspicion of trying to make a purchase at Ralph’s with a
counterfeit $100 bill. The man told police he had received the bill
as change, but police said they found other counterfeit bills and
narcotics in his possession as well.
MEDIA DISTRICT WEST
* 353 Pass Ave.: A Pet Mania official reported Friday that a group
of four people stole a parakeet worth $400. He told police two of the
people approached the counter and talked to him while the others went
back to where the bird was located. After they left, he noticed the
bird was missing.
* 2300 block of Hollywood Way: A 32-year-old Monrovia woman
reported Thursday someone broke into her car and stole several items,
including a handgun. The thief apparently broke in through the car’s
wing vent, and the woman told police a black bag containing the gun,
a computer and other items was stolen.
