Local children receive clothes
MEDIA CITY CENTER -- About 30 Burbank children from low-income
families participated in Mervyn’s 11th annual ChildSpree from 7 to 9
a.m. Saturday before the store opened to the public.
The event, co-sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club of Burbank,
gave each child $100 to shop for back-to-school clothes. Each
purchase thereafter received a 10% discount.
Mervyn’s Burbank store, at 245 E. Magnolia Blvd., was one of the
chain’s 266 sites in 14 states that took part in the event. The
company estimated that nearly 15,000 children participated.
