HIGH SCHOOL BENEFIT IS DAY AT RACES

Providence High School will have its first “Day at the Races” on

Oct. 11 at Santa Anita Park.

The school has reserved semi-private patio accommodations in the

Wine Shed area of the infield for the occasion. Festivities will last

from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and attendees are invited to come for any

portion they wish or stay for the whole day. Lunch will be served

from noon to 2 p.m.

Tickets are $25, $15 for children ages 4 to 10, and free for children ages 3 and younger. Prices include park admission, a gourmet

Southwestern barbecue buffet lunch, soft drinks, parking and a racing

CASINO NIGHT RAISES FUNDS FOR MEDICAL CENTER

The Providence St. Joseph Medical Center Guild will have its

annual fall event, a “Monte Carlo Casino Night,” at 6 p.m. Nov. 7 at

Lakeside Golf Club in Toluca Lake.

Chairwoman Janice Khoury and co-Chairwoman Josie McCurley promise

an evening of fun with a no-host bar, buffet dinner and games,

including blackjack, dice tables, roulette and a Wheel of Fortune.

Topping off the activities will be a silent auction and

high-roller prizes.

Also serving on the committee are Jerry Delauney, Marie Dahle,

Patricia Scully, Alice Beckler, Lucy Brown, Maureen Walsh, Terry

Campbell, Genia Beccarelli, Marie Piteo, Nancy Anton, Linda Brundage,

Marian Enos, Patricia Curtin, Patricia Carlson, Claire Laughlin,

Ollie Vick and Marilu Crowley. Overseeing the effort is President

Julie McArdle.

Proceeds will apply to the guild’s pledge to the medical center

for a High Dose Rate Brachytherapy Device for Radiation Oncology.

Providence St. Joseph Medical Center’s mission is to meet the

needs of the community with its building program and advanced

healthcare technology. The guild is dedicated to supporting that

mission.

Tickets are $65 and the reservation deadline is Oct. 27. For

ticket price includes $50 worth of game chips.

CABRINI GUILD PLANS HARMONIOUS MEETING

The Cabrini Literary Guild will have its first meeting of the year

on Thursday at the Oakmont Country Club in Glendale. The program will

be the Verdugo International Chapter of Sweet Adelines singing

musical numbers.

The social time begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch at noon. For
