COMMITTEE ON ASSIGNMENTS

WHAT HAPPENED

The board unanimously approved the district’s plan for Committee

on Assignments, and authorized the director of personnel services to

submit the plan to the Los Angeles County Office of Education.

WHAT IT MEANS

Committee on Assignments is formed to review and determine special

skills or related experience for teachers who are assigned to

elective classes that are either not authorized by the teacher’s

credential or there is no credential authorization.

CHANGES TO BOOSTER ORGANIZATIONS REGULATIONS

WHAT HAPPENED

The board unanimously approved the revisions to Board Policy 1270

regarding parent support groups or booster organizations.

WHAT IT MEANS

The district is discontinuing its annual payment of about $10,000

in liability insurance for approved parent support groups or booster

organizations due to reductions in the 2003-04 district operating

budget.

BURROUGHS VOCAL MUSIC FIELD TRIPS

WHAT HAPPENED

The board unanimously approved the requests from the John

Burroughs High School Vocal Music Assn. for permission to take field

trips to Pali Mountain Camp in Lake Arrowhead, beginning Friday and

continuing through Oct. 12 and Camp Mountain Crags in Calabasas, Jan.

9 through Jan. 11.

WHAT IT MEANS

The camps are provided to students enrolled in the school’s vocal

music program. Students will participate in vocal music, dance,

leadership and teamwork activities. Both camps will be funded from

the Vocal Music Assn. Trust Account.
