AGREEMENT WITH CASELLA’S TO USE BASEBALL FIELD

WHAT HAPPENED

The board unanimously approved an agreement between the district,

the high school and Casella’s Custom-Cut Christmas Trees.

WHAT IT MEANS

From Nov. 20 to Dec. 24, Christmas trees will be sold on the

baseball field of Burbank High School at the corner of Delaware Road

and Glenoaks Boulevard. Gary Casella will donate a minimum of $6,500

to Burbank High School’s Associated Student Body, and give $1,600 in

scholarships to students and $1,600 to the baseball program for the

use of the lot.

APPLICATION FOR FUNDS FOR VOCATIONAL PROGRAMS

WHAT HAPPENED

The board voted unanimously to approve submission of the 2003-04

application for funds for secondary schools under the Carl D. Perkins

Vocational and Applied Technology Education Act of 1999, for a total

of $91,930.

WHAT IT MEANS

This application would provide funds for vocational programs at

district secondary schools.

AUTHORIZATION FOR INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES

WHAT HAPPENED

The board unanimously approved music education and instruction at

Edison Elementary School to be funded by the PTA and the school’s

booster club.

WHAT IT MEANS

Music instructor Robyn Kreisberg will provide 30 minutes of music

instruction to each classroom, kindergarten through fifth grade, each

week during the 2003-04 school year for a cost of $4,000.
