City receives Clean Air Award
The city of Burbank was honored this week at the South Coast Air
Quality Management District’s 15th annual Clean Air Awards ceremony
for making significant contributions to air quality in the past year.
Presented at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los
Angeles, the award recognized the city’s innovative transportation
projects, with its two Metrolink stations and low-emission shuttle
services that connect commuters to the trains. The city was also
praised for recycling, water and power conservation, and
environmentally sensitive zoning.
Eight other people and organizations were honored at the awards,
including UCLA, state Sen. Byron Sher (D-Stanford) and the
environmental group Communities for a Better Environment.
