Postal workers put together food drive

United States postal workers in Burbank will be collecting food donations on Saturday, May 10th for the Burbank Temporary Aid Center as part of its “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive.

Postal workers are asking residents to leave nonperishable food items in a bag near mail boxes where the letter carriers will pick them up and deliver them to the aid center.

Residents can also donate directly to BTAC, located at 1304 W. Burbank Blvd.

Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast coming

The 2008 Burbank Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast will be held from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Pickwick Banquet Center.

The annual event is the local version of the yearly Presidential Prayer Breakfast held in Washington, D.C., and is co-sponsored by Master’s Men of Burbank, Burbank Kiwanis, Burbank Noon Rotary, Burbank Sunrise Rotary and Magnolia Park Optimists.

This year’s keynote speaker is former pro football player Roosevelt “Rosey” Grier, and entertainment includes the Burbank High School choir.

Advance tickets are $15 and $20 at the door.
