JOINT MEETING OF THE BURBANK CITY COUNCIL AND THE BURBANK UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD

Share

The two bodies will receive an update on the status of the joint-use facility improvement projects at Burbank High School, John Burroughs High School and Jordan Middle School.

The projects include renovation of the infields at Burbank High and John Burroughs High School, installing eight-lane tracks at Burroughs and adding an additional 70 parking spaces at Jordan Middle School.

Members of the council and the school board will also review several possible funding options for those projects. Officials are projecting a $3.5-million shortfall for those projects.

Board and council members will also discuss a new joint-use agreement that would detail when the new facilities would be open for use by the city, and what sort of financial support the city will give the schools in return.

Staff from Burbank Water & Power will also update the two agencies on water conservation efforts at Burbank schools.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The two agencies will not vote on any of the issues before them, but will give direction to staff so that the council and school board might vote on related issues at subsequent meetings.
