BURBANK UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT MEETING WRAP-UP

The school board approved a grant from ALL Management Corp. to pay for career and college clubs at Jordan Middle School.

Under the terms of the agreement, Jordan Middle School will host two career and college clubs during the school year with mentors for each.

The grant will fund the clubs with three installments of $2,000, which will pay for teaching and indirect supplies, trips to colleges, refreshments for club meetings, promotional materials and stipends for teacher advisors that cannot exceed $4,000.

WHAT IT MEANS

The grant has no fiscal impact on the district. Jordan Middle School has agreed to host the two club meetings and provide mentors for the program.

The board approved a 50-year joint-use agreement with the city of Burbank.

The city will be able to use district facilities mostly for recreational purposes.

The agreement will set in motion the use of district construction funds to begin field projects for Burbank and John Burroughs high schools and a street parking project for Jordan Middle School.

WHAT IT MEANS

The city will pay the district $100,000 annually beginning July 1 for repairs.

The board approved an agreement between the district and Vincenti, Lloyd and Stutzman, LLP to provide an audit of the district’s booster clubs, which are any organization that has signed up with the district and raises money for Burbank Unified schools.

WHAT IT MEANS

The audit will test a sample of fundraising events to ensure that money contributed to the organizations has been accounted for and deposited in the bank. Auditing will begin Dec. 8, and the report will be given to the board by Dec. 31. The audit will cost $8,060 plus mileage and would be paid from the district’s general fund.
