Hundreds of airport workers, elected officials and business leaders gathered at Bob Hope Airport on Wednesday to celebrate its 80th anniversary.

Bob Hope’s son, Kelly, commemorated the installation of a banner bearing his father’s likeness. Located on the terminal tower, the banner announced the anniversary’s theme and features the relief sculpture of Hope installed recently in the terminal lobby. The airport, which was named after the comedian seven years ago, opened Memorial Day weekend in 1930.
