Motorcyclist killed in Burbank

A 65-year-old Burbank man was killed Tuesday morning after his motorcycle collided with a big rig at Buena Vista Street and Burbank Boulevard, officials said — the second fatality on city streets in less than a week.

The motorcyclist, who authorities identified as Galo German Ulloa, was traveling south on Buena Vista Street about 6:20 a.m., Burbank Police Lt. J.J. Puglisi said.

A big rig traveling north on Buena Vista Street made a left turn onto Burbank Boulevard, striking Ulloa in the intersection and dragging him about 100 feet, Puglisi added.

“[The truck driver] said he did not see the motorcycle,” Puglisi said.

Ulloa, who was wearing a helmet, was trapped under the truck and died at the scene, Puglisi said. The truck driver, identified as 40-year-old Jesus Hernandez of Paramount, was driving for Jones Chemicals, police said.

“There were no signs that [the truck driver] was under the influence,” Puglisi said. “No arrests. [We] just got his information and he was released from the scene.”

In the second deadly, single-car accident, which occurred about 5 a.m. Saturday, coroner’s officials said they had yet to identify the driver, who was burned beyond recognition after his overturned BMW caught fire.

The man was traveling north on the Golden State (5) Freeway when he struck the center divider and lost control of his BMW, police said. The car careened off the freeway and onto Cohasset Street, smashed into a tree and caught fire.
