Good morning, readers. Today is Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s Summer Night Lights program, created to curb gang violence, was dealt a blow last week.

Two employees working for Villaraigosa were shot in Sun Valley, and officials believe it’s gang-related. Luckily, both of them are expected to survive. Daily News

The last stop of the Metro Orange Line drops commuters off across the street from the Red Line and you’re required to make a quick dash, race down stairs, then race down an escalator to catch to the first train in North Hollywood. The city of Burbank has been ordered to pay thousands of dollars worth of legal fees incurred by a former deputy police chief who won $1.3 million for claiming he faced retaliation at work. Burbank Leader

An anti-gay religious group with a history of picketing funerals has set their sights on their next victim. Members of Westboro Baptist Church are allegedly planning to picket Sage Stallone’s funeral because they look down upon his father’s personal life. Studio City Patch
