Good Samaritan electrocuted in Valley Village was Burbank resident

One of two women who died after being electrocuted at a car accident in Valley Village was identified as Irma Zamora, 40, of Burbank, police said Thursday.

Zamora and another woman rushed to help the driver, who lost control of his vehicle about 8:25 p.m. Wednesday and smashed into a light pole and fire hydrant at Magnolia Boulevard and Ben Avenue, sparking an electrical hazard.

“These women saw the accident occur and went to try to rescue the individual inside the vehicle,” said Officer Tenesha Dobine of the Los Angeles Police Department. “They were injured when they came into contact with the water.”

Both women died at the scene. Dobine said as many as eight others also tried to help and some were injured. She did not know how seriously they were hurt.
