Couple allegedly caught using stroller to steal goods from Costco in Burbank

A North Hollywood couple was arrested Wednesday after they allegedly used their toddler’s stroller in an attempt to steal goods from the Costco in Burbank.

Loss prevention workers spotted the husband, Nerses Vartanian, 40, allegedly place goods inside the stroller as his wife, Marusya Hambardzumyan, 30, pushed a shopping cart and grabbed other items inside the wholesale store in the 1000 block of West Burbank Boulevard, according to Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.

Hambardzumyan then paid for the items in shopping cart and the couple left the store, Ryburn said. Store employees stopped the pair a short time later and placed them under citizen’s arrest.

Workers recovered rubbing alcohol, body wash, shampoo and disinfectant spray, Ryburn said.

Hambardzumyan was arrested on suspicion of petty theft while her husband received a citation for the incident due his medical condition, Ryburn added.
