Crowd gathers to watch Obama roll through Burbank

More than 40 traffic intersections were closed down in Burbank on Wednesday for President Obama’s visit to NBC Studios to appear on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

Dozens of officers from the Burbank, Alhambra and Pasadena police departments and the Sheriff’s Department were stationed throughout the city to block off the intersections for the president’s motorcade.

Burbank police started preparing for Obama’s visit Thursday, said Burbank Lt. Jay Hawver.

Obama arrived at Bob Hope Airport at around 6 p.m. No flights were scheduled to land or take off during his arrival, said Burbank Sgt. Darin Ryburn.

A group of pedestrians clustered around the intersection, taking photos with digital cameras and cellphones as Obama’s motorcade left the airport.

The appearance marks Obama’s fifth on “The Tonight Show” and third during his presidency, according to NBC.
