An early morning collision on Sunday in Burbank left one driver dead, police said.

The fatal crash occurred when an SUV and sedan collided head-on at the intersection of Buena Vista Street and Alameda Avenue at approximately 5:40 a.m. The impact of the collision caused the sedan to strike a light pole and a fence, while the SUV struck and sheared a fire hydrant.

The driver of the sedan, which was lodged in the iron fence of the Walt Disney Studios property, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police arrested the driver of the SUV on suspicion of manslaughter.

The identity of the drivers, both male, were not immediately released. There were no other passengers in either vehicle, police said.

On Saturday night, firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver of a pickup truck after it collided with another vehicle at Providencia Street and Glenoaks Boulevard, bulldozed a bus shelter and a parkway tree, eventually becoming lodged between a wall and larger tree.

The female driver, along with two passengers, were taken to Los Angeles County - USC Medical Center with serious injuries.
