A 51-year-old El Monte man who allegedly attempted to steal a walking cane from a CVS Pharmacy in Burbank Sunday morning was arrested shortly after the incident, police said.

Just before 9 a.m., Jim Riggins walked out of a CVS located at 101 E. Alameda Ave. carrying a cane he didn’t purchase, said Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.

When confronted by a store employee, Riggins allegedly raised the cane as if to attack the worker and then walked off.

Shortly afterward, Burbank police located Riggins and arrested him on suspicion of robbery.

He had also allegedly stuffed his pockets with lotion and other items, all of which were returned to the pharmacy
