Verdugo Pool opening makes a splash in Burbank
Closed for renovations since 2008, Burbank finally got the keys to its new Verdugo Pool this weekend.
Swimmers waited in line outside the gates on Saturday to be among the first to use the aquatic center, which features a 50-meter pool with diving boards and an activity pool with two water slides.

Renovated to the tune of $7.3 million, the aquatic center also sports new locker rooms, bathrooms and first aid and lifeguard offices.
Recreational swimming will cost $2 for resident children and $4 for adults. It costs an additional $2 to access the activity pool.
The facility — minus the activity pool — will remain open for 11 months of the year for a one-year pilot period.
