Human remains were discovered off Angeles Crest Highway near the Lexus belonging to a 24-year-old Burbank man reported missing nearly two months ago, but authorities have not determined whether the cases are connected, coroner’s officials said Tuesday.

Gevork Boyadzhyan’s white Lexus sedan was located by authorities Sunday 400 feet off mile marker 65 of the highway, according to Lt. Brian Fitch of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Human bones, along with items of clothing, were discovered near the car, authorities said.

Investigators have not identified the body or determined its sex or age, according Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter.

“I don’t know if it’s related to that vehicle or not at this point,” Winter said.

The Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau is handling the investigation.

Boyadzhyan was last seen leaving his home near Grismer Avenue and San Fernando Boulevard at around 7:30 p.m. on July 20. At about 8:30 p.m., he sent a text message to a friend that read “Call me.”

The friend returned the call an hour later, but Boyadzhyan’s phone had been turned off.
Since then, no activity has been reported on his credit cards, and there has been no sign of him at local hospitals or jails, according to his family.

Boyadzhyan had some run-ins with law enforcement. He was convicted of robbery in September 2006 and of vehicle theft two years later, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court records.

But after serving his last sentence, he turned his life around, Ana Akilyan, Boyadzhyan’s sister said.

“He was staying away from everybody or anything that could be trouble for him,” Akilyan had said a month after he went missing. “He wanted to get married. He didn’t want to go back to jail; he didn’t want to get in trouble.”
