A man who attempted to sell a pair of Nike shoes via Craigslist was pepper-sprayed and robbed Sunday afternoon by two would-be buyers, police said.

The 23-year-old seller arranged to meet the suspects in the parking lot of Chuck E. Cheese in Burbank, located at 930 N. San Fernando Blvd. just before 2 p.m., said Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.

When the victim opened his trunk to retrieve the Air Jordans, one suspect pepper-sprayed him in the face, while the other grabbed the shoe box. The pair struggled over the box, until the victim, who was having trouble seeing, let go, Ryburn said.

Shoes in tow, the suspects reportedly took off running up Third Street.

The men were identified as black and between 18 and 24 years old. One was described as roughly 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 150 pounds. The second man was described as roughly 6 feet tall and 175 pounds, Ryburn said.

No getaway vehicle was seen.

Anyone who may have been in the area or seen the men running is urged to call Burbank police at (818) 238-3210.
