A 5-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Burbank Monday afternoon, and the driver was arrested after attempting to flee the scene, police said.

The boy, who was crossing the street with his grandmother, was transported to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles with minor injuries after he was knocked to the ground in the collision, which occurred around 1 p.m. at Victory Boulevard and Fairview Street, said Burbank Police Lt. Eddie Ruiz.

The female motorist, whose identity was not immediately available, reportedly fled the scene. Witnesses followed her to 7-Eleven, where police arrested her on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, Ruiz said.
