A perceived, but unsubstantiated threat propagated through social media led to increased police at Burroughs High on Wednesday, but no class cancellations.
Daniel Victor Torres, a 32-year-old man from Los Angeles, was charged by prosecutors on Tuesday with the murder of 68-year-old Burbank resident Oganes Papazyan in a Chinatown parking lot, according to authorities.
An event called Holiday Street Fair, which included a Winter Wine Walk, was held along San Fernando Boulevard in downtown Burbank last Saturday, starting at noon.
Burbank and Burroughs high schools are taking part in the fourth annual Clerk’s Cup. The goal is to preregister and register the highest number of students.
A Burbank man was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for producing child pornography while working as a nanny in Los Angeles County, authorities said.
