Grinches couldn’t steal the holiday

Share

Thank you for your article about the merchants pushing through without any help from the city and pulling off the annual Holiday in the Park (“Holiday fun without funds,” Nov. 17). It brought to light a good point: The city of Burbank knows most merchants don’t own their own buildings, but they raise the tax base for them.

The fact that the city officials were such Grinches as they could not “loan” out items for the Holiday in the Park event that were just sitting in their warehouse collecting dust is despicable. They would rather be in bed with the building owners than do something nice for the neighborhood.

It seems to be all about tax dollars with them and nothing about good will. Kudos to the merchants for ignoring the city officials and pulling this off anyway.
