GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL: Los Altos d. Burbank, 25-18, 22-25, 25-19, 15-16: The Bulldogs couldn’t win the CIF Southern Section Division II first-round match Tuesday on the road.

The Bulldogs (14-5) received nine kills and three blocks from Reilly Brennen. Stefanie Lin and Jessica Murphy had eight digs each and Sarah Tubert and Nia Treadwell had five kills each.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Burbank in Pacific League finals: Some of the Bulldogs’ lower-division teams had success in winning titles at the event Thursday at Crescenta Valley Park.

The girls’ freshmen-sophomore team claimed its fourth crown in five years. Led by Daisy Ignacio’s second-place finish with a time of 21 minutes 33 seconds, the Bulldogs were able to beat Arcadia, which had beaten them by one point in the previous two league meets, to earn a share of title. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Myriam Gonzalez (third; 21:50), Victoria Sanchez (fourth; 21:58), Marisol Ruvalcaba (sixth; 22:10) and Natalie Zelayandia (11th; 22:42).

The Burbank girls’ junior varsity team won a league title, with Kristen Fregoso winning the race in 21:51. After Fregoso, Burbank packed up nicely to seal the deal, with Michelle Songstad (fifth; 22:48), Kayla Rivas (sixth; 22:57), Olivia Bradley-Skill (seventh; 23:08) and Allison Suchy (eighth; 23:31) leading the charge.

Providence in Liberty League finals: The Pioneers had some solid results in the event Friday at L.A. Pierce College.

In the girls’ race, Jaii Jiang placed third in 20 minutes 51 seconds to qualify for the CIF prelims. She was followed by teammates Cathy Gacria (29th; 25:56) and Samantha Granados (32nd; 26:25).

In the boys’ race, Pioneer Aaron Carrillo was 19th in 18:24. He was followed by teammates Brian Aguillon (28th; 19:48) and Aaron Ziegler (29th; 19:50).
