Burroughs basketball gets first league win

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Burroughs 61, Hoover 50: The Indians received 25 points and 11 rebounds from Lawrence White Monday to win their Pacific League game at home.

White scored 17 points in the second half and was solid in the fourth quarter, converting nine of his 10 free-throw attempts.

Kalen Verhoeven added 12 points for Burroughs (11-3, 1-1 in league).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Burbank 51, Pasadena 35: Burbank bounced from a loss three days earlier to claim a Pacific League victory Monday on the road.

Jamie Gonzalez scored 14 points and Courtney Seidler added 12 for Burbank (5-9). Teammate Aja Locke tallied 12 rebounds.

Burbank led, 29-14, at the half.

Burroughs 60, Hoover 16: It was an easy Pacific League win for the Indians Monday, as they defeated the Tornadoes on the road.

Aysia Shellmire had 18 points, six blocks and nine rebounds to pace Burroughs (13-2, 2-0). Teammate Sidney Ortega added 13 points and four steals, Brooke Radcliff had eight rebounds and Davina Del Castillo had seven rebounds.
