Burbank softball still perfect in league

SOFTBALL

Burbank 13, Muir 0 (five innings): The Bulldogs remained undefeated in the Pacific League with an easy victory Tuesday at McCambridge Park.

The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

Burbank (13-1, 6-0 in league) is ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division III.

“We would have liked to play a more competitive team heading into the Burroughs game, but we’ve played our share of competitive teams this season,” said Burbank Coach Nicole Drabecki, whose squad takes on second-place Burroughs at 6 p.m. Thursday at McCambridge Park.

Katie Hooper was three for three with two home runs, three runs scored and three runs batted in, Julia Duarte was two for two with a home run and two RBI and Caitlyn Brooks was two for two with a home run and three RBI.

Burroughs 11, Hoover 1 (five innings): The Indians scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning Tuesday to earn a Pacific League win at Olive Park.

The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

Michelle Santiago had three hits, including a home run, and Cheyenne Steward had a home run for Burroughs (13-5, 5-1).

BASEBALL

Burroughs 10, Hoover 0 (five innings): The first-place Indians had little trouble earning the 10-run mercy rule win Tuesday in a Pacific League contest against the host Tornadoes.

The win keeps Burroughs (12-7, 6-0) alone in first place.

Aiden Anding was three for three with two runs batted in and a stolen base, Brian Pozos was one for two with three stolen bases, Patrick Christopher was two for three with two RBI and Miles Haddad had two RBI for Burroughs.

Burbank 11, Muir 0 (six innings): In a game that was called after six innings because of the 10-run mercy rule, the Bulldogs earned a Pacific League win Tuesday on the road.

Camden Palmisano had a three-run home run and Ricky Perez was two for two with two runs batted in for Burbank (10-7, 5-1).

BOYS TENNIS

Burroughs 12, Crescenta Valley 6: The Indians enjoyed a singles sweep Tuesday in notching a Pacific League victory on the road.

The win keeps Burroughs (8-0 overall and in league) in first place in league.

While singles player Calvin Fox won his sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-1, Sawyer Patterson swept his sets by 6-0 scores and Michael Whelan went, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0. The doubles team of Kevin Hoang and Wen Yao Lin also swept, 6-2, 6-1, 6-0.
