Roundup: Providence girls’ basketball holds on in league

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Providence 51, Buckley 48: The Pioneers were able to survive and come away with a Liberty League victory Friday on the road.

Providence, ranked No. 9 in CIF Southern Section IV-A, improved to 9-4, 2-0 in league.
Katia Dabbaghian had 16 points and six rebounds and Kristie Kawamoto added 12 points to pace the Pioneers, the four-time defending league champions.

Burbank 66, Hoover 26: Yazzy Sa’Dullah had a big night for the Bulldogs, leading them to a Pacific League victory at home.

The junior tallied 35 points, including seven three-pointers, to go along with seven steals, six blocks and five assists. Teammate Sharis Gazeri chipped in 10 points and five assists for Burbank (11-8, 3-2).

Burroughs 65, Pasadena 28: The Indians had an easy time rolling to a Pacific League victory Wednesday at home.

Sidney Ortega paced Burroughs with 15 points and teammate Brooke Radcliff chipped in with 12.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Burroughs 82, Arcadia 78: A win at home Friday night kept the Indians in first place in the Pacific League.

Amaad Wainwright had 32 points, 16 rebounds, five assists, five steals and two blocks for Burroughs (13-3, 5-0). Rashid Ewing chipped in 23 points.

Bellarmine-Jefferson 79, Salesian 64: The Guards received 26 points from Abid Oses on Friday to claim the Santa Fe League win at home.

Raffy Verano and Isaac Etter added 13 points each for Bell-Jeff (10-6, 1-1).

Providence 67, St. Genevieve 50: The Pioneers improved to 9-6 with a nonleague victory Friday night on the road.

Crescenta Valley 46, Burbank 32: The Bulldogs absorbed the Pacific League loss at the hands of the Falcons on Wednesday at Burbank.

GIRLS’ SOCCER
Burbank 5, Hoover 1: The Bulldogs (4-2-3, 3-1-1) tallied four second-half goals Friday to win the Pacific League match.

Burroughs 2, Pasadena 2: The Indians received a goal in the second half from Danielle Tilton to salvage a tie Wednesday in a Pacific League road match.

The Indians’ first goal came in the first half and was scored by Gaby Galvez on a cross from Jackie Luga.

Burbank 0, Crescenta Valley 0: The Bulldogs played to a stalemate in a Pacific League contest Wednesday at Crescenta Valley.

BOYS’ SOCCER
Burroughs 3, Arcadia 0: The Indians remained in first place in the Pacific League with a victory Friday at Memorial Field.

Burroughs (9-2-3, 4-0-1) scored all of its goals in the second half.

Ashot Veisyan scored two goals and Milosh Petko had a goal and an assist.

Burbank 3, Hoover 1: The Bulldogs (1-4 in league) picked up their first Pacific League win Friday at the expense of the Tornadoes.

Crescenta Valley 5, Burbank 0: The Bulldogs were outshot, 21-1, in suffering the Pacific League loss Wednesday at home.

The Falcons had seven corner kicks to one for Burbank.
