Film Society will show romantic comedy

The Laguna Beach Film Society is showing “You May Not Kiss the Bride,” at 7 p.m. Thursday at the South Coast Cinema, 162 S. Coast Hwy.

The movie, directed by Lagunan Rob Hedden, is described as an “action-packed, zany romantic comedy,” and stars David Annable, Katharine McPhee, Rob Schneider and Kathy Bates. “It follows the misadventures of a pet photographer (Annable) forced to marry a Croatian mobster’s daughter, who is kidnapped during their honeymoon on a remote tropical island,” according to a news release.

Tickets are $10 at the door and include post-film director question and answer session. For a prescreening wine and appetizer reception at 6 p.m. at the Laguna Art Museum, it’s $30.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Augie’s Quest, which funds research for a cure for Lou Gehrig’s disease, the release said.
