In the Arts: Passport is your entry to the arts

The Laguna Beach-based Passport to the Arts team, which provides a summer pass to the city’s art institutions, recently announced that the 2013 offering is on sale.

At $21.50, the package, provided in collaboration with the Laguna Beach Visitors & Conference Bureau, allows unlimited entry to Art-A-Fair, Festival of the Arts and Sawdust Art Festival, which last from June 28 through Sept. 1.

Passport holders can also take advantage of discounts from local stores, hotels and restaurants, along with a one-time free parking allowance at the Act V lot, 1900 Laguna Canyon Road.

Other benefits include access to free shuttle service throughout the summer, plus opportunities to interact with more than 500 artists and enjoy 300 art workshops.

Passport holders will automatically become part of the Grand Prize Getaway drawing.

The Eco-Warrior Foundation is teaming up with Hotel Seven4one to present a live art auction from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The event, hosted at Hotel Seven4one, 741 S. Coast Hwy, Laguna Beach, begins with registration, followed by a cocktail hour and a two-hour live auction.

Jeffrey Robinson, an artist based in Toronto, donated nine pieces that will be available for acquisition. Each artwork showcases oceans, water masses and the way pollution has moulded our planet.

“This powerful display of imagery will help to bring a deeper understanding of the responsibility we have for all animals and the environment we share,” Kalina Justice, director of creative marketing and sales for the Laguna Gallery of Contemporary Art, said in a release. “Robinson’s paintings demonstrate vividly that we are interdependent upon one another.”

She added that his “creative use of DNA patterns layered within images” of Eco-Warrior James Pribram’s causes stirs “emotions that will not be tamed!”

The Eco-Warrior art collection, established to inform people about the challenges posed to marine life, will benefit from bids on commissioned art, experience packages and an overnight stay at the Hotel Seven4one.
