Body of 65-year-old man recovered at Santa Ana River jetty

The body of a 65-year-old man was recovered Sunday from the area of the Santa Ana River jetty at the border of Newport Beach and Huntington Beach.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call just after 7 a.m. of a possibly deceased man floating on his back, the department said Monday.

The man was identified as Charles Blanchard, the county coroner’s office said. His city of residence was unclear.

The cause of Blanchard’s death has not yet been determined, the coroner’s office said. The case does not appear to be suspicious, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
