Erika Dial and Jennifer Kucera of Laguna Beach shared honors at a
recent Girl Scout Ceremony. Each girl has earned the highest achievement
possible for their level of Girl Scouting. Dial, who will be going into
ninth grade at Laguna Beach High School next year, earned the Cadette
Girl Scout Silver Award. To earn this award a girl must fulfill specific
prerequisites, including completing badges, career investigation and
excercises in self-awareness.
Kucera has been awarded the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest
achievement in Girl Scouting and the equivalent of the Eagle Award in Boy
Scouts. This award is earned through achievement in leadership, community
service, skills development, career exploration and the completion of a
final service project of the girl’s own design. Jennifer’s project
benefited the local Youth Shelter, which houses teens having difficulty
at home. Kucera graduated from Laguna Beach High School in 2002. She has
also been awarded the Outstanding Senior Girl Scout Recognition by the
Girl Scout Council of Orange County. This special award is given to only
a handful of graduating Senior Girl Scouts in Orange County each year. .
. . Breyon Lauher, Jennifer Haley, and Ashley Burson received $1000
scholarships for outstanding achievements in public service by Rotary
International.
