Hoag Hospital recognizes organ donors

Share

More than 20 families of organ donors united at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach on Tuesday to celebrate their loved ones’ life-saving gifts.

Hospital officials unveiled a piece of art dedicated to their contribution. Leaves on the “Tree of Life” identify organ donors by name and the year they made their sacrifices.

OneLegacy, an organ and tissue recovering organization, honored the donors along with the hospital’s employees.

Between 2006 and 2010, Hoag had the largest number of tissue donations in Orange County with 138 consented donors.

An additional 29 donated their organs — the largest number for a nontrauma hospital in Orange County, Hoag officials said in a news release.
