Man pleads guilty to drug trafficking in federal case

One of the defendants in a case against a Costa Mesa-based gang has pleaded guilty to distributing illegal drugs and associating with members of the Mexican Mafia, federal court documents show.

Douglas Joseph Jackovich, 29, also known as “DJ” or “Temper,” has been associated with the Forming Kaos gang and was one of 17 defendants in the federal case filed in June 2011, according to federal court documents.

Forming Kaos claims Costa Mesa as its territory, primarily the Westside area bounded by Fairview Road, Placentia Avenue, 19th Street and West Wilson Street.

Members of the criminal street gang traffic drugs, extortion and illegal firearms, and are associated with violent acts, court documents state. The gang allegedly has ties to the powerful Mexican Mafia, a Mexican-American organization that controls much of the Latino gang activity in California prisons and drug sales on the streets.

Forming Kaos “taxes” drug dealers, and shares those proceeds with the Mexican Mafia, according to the documents.

Federal prosecutors wrote in court documents that Jackovich conspired to sell 50 to 150 grams of methamphetamine for Forming Kaos, and spoke multiple times with a Mexican Mafia member about sales and distribution.

Jackovich will be sentenced at a later date.
