Costa Mesa needs volunteers to help plan its birthday celebration.

Residents and representatives from community organizations on the 60th Anniversary Celebration Planning Committee will organize and promote the celebration scheduled to start in June 2013, according to a news release.

Each City Council member will appoint one person to the five-member committee.

The committee’s first meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Dec. 11 in the Emergency Operations Center in the Costa Mesa Police Department, 99 Fair Drive.

To apply for a position, residents may fill out an interest form on the city’s website. The form can also be downloaded and returned to the city CEO’s office, 77 Fair Drive.
