Peter Ward Nourse
Nourse, Peter Ward, 83, of Newport Beach, CA, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2013. He was born in Los Angeles, on April 6, 1930 to Norman and Gwenn Nourse. Soon after they (and brother Norm) moved down to the Balboa Peninsula where he spent his childhood attending Newport Elementary and enjoying the bay and beach life. His early teen school years were spent on the East Coast where he attended Eaglebrook and Andover Prep schools, but his heart was back in Newport where he returned to finish high school at Newport Harbor. After graduating college from UC Berkeley he joined the Army and was stationed in Okinawa during the Korean War. Upon return he pursued a sales career at Reynolds Metals and later began a successful real estate development business. In 1955 he met the love of his life, Charlotte, and, after a short 8 year courtship, married in 1963. They soon settled down in Corona del Mar where they raised their 3 children. Once the kids were grown and out of the house Peter and Charlotte caught the travel bug and sailed the globe on 55 cruises collecting wonderful memories and treasures along the way.
As a youth he was a tremendous athlete and in his later years became an avid (and quite good) golfer. He also enjoyed politics, travel, Hollywood movies, reading newspapers/books, and most of all spending time with his family, which he was so very proud of.
Peter is survived by his loving children, Susan (Geoff), Cheryl, Peter, and Granddaughters, Sophy and Finley.
Peter, we thank you for being such a wonderfully devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Your departure has left a huge void in our hearts, but we find great comfort in knowing that you are now back in the arms of your beloved Charlotte and smiling down upon us from above. Our fond memories of you will remain with us vividly for eternity.
Private services will be held for family and friends on September 30th.
